Welcome to Brighthelm Psychology (“Website”, “Site”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of this website, which is owned and operated by a registered psychological practice based in Sussex, United Kingdom.

1. Purpose of the Website

This website is intended to provide general information about our psychological services, mental health education, and a way to contact or book appointments with a qualified practitioner. It is not a substitute for professional mental health diagnosis or treatment.

No information on this site constitutes or is intended to constitute mental health advice or form a therapist–client relationship.

 

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this website. If you are under 18, please do not submit any personal information through our site.

 

3. Therapist–Client Relationship

No therapeutic relationship is established through this website or any online contact form. A formal therapeutic relationship begins only after:

• A consultation has taken place,

• An agreement to proceed is made, and

• Both parties have signed a consent form and therapy contract.

 

4. Crisis and Emergency Information

This website does not offer crisis support. If you are in distress or require urgent help, please contact:

• Samaritans (UK): 116 123 (24/7, free)

• NHS Emergency Services: 999

• Your local GP or mental health crisis team

We do not monitor messages 24/7 and cannot provide emergency services via email or contact forms.

 

5. Booking, Fees, and Cancellations

 

5.1 Appointments

You may request an appointment via our contact form or by email. Appointments are subject to availability and confirmation.

 

5.2 Fees

Fees for sessions are stated clearly before services are rendered and may be updated occasionally. 

 

5.3 Cancellations

We require at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed appointments or late cancellations may be charged in full, in accordance with your signed therapy agreement.

 

6. Confidentiality and Data Protection

We are committed to maintaining your confidentiality in accordance with:

• Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) codes of conduct/ethics

• United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy code of conduct/ethics

• The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

 

6.1 Information Handling

All personal information is treated as confidential and stored securely. You can read more in our Privacy Policy which outlines how we collect, store, and use personal data.

Please note that while we take appropriate precautions, email and online form submissions are not 100% secure. Avoid sending sensitive clinical information through these means.
